Automotive Battery Division - Reem Batteries & Power Appliances Co SAOC. is a 100% Omani owned Joint Stock Company, and a part of the prestigious OMZEST Group. Set up in technical collaboration with the world's most renowned battery manufacturer Johnson Controls Inc., USA, the Company manufactures Dry Charged and Maintenance Free Automotive Batteries in a modern factory located in the Rusayl Industrial Area about 50 kms from Muscat. The company commenced commercial production in the year 1992, and has now grown to be one of the largest, ISO:9001-2000 certified manufacturer of Dry & Wet Charged automotive batteries in the Middle East with a capacity of 1.40 million batteries per year.

The product range is one of the widest, covering about 180 different types of batteries, conforming to JIS, DIN and SAE standards. Besides the wide range of Automotive Applications, the Company offers special batteries for Leisure segment and for use in Battle tanks. The company also indigenously developed batteries for use in buses plying in London and Hongkong. The 12 Volt batteries cover a wide range of capacities from 26 Ah to 230 Ah.

The Company markets the products in Seven Brands viz. Antara, Antara Hybrid , Antara Gold, Gulfstar, Powerpack, Gulfracer, and Charger. While  the Antara range  is sold in the GCC Countries, the other brands are exported to UAE, other Middle Eastern Countries, Europe, CIS region, Africa and South America, etc. The Company's products are exported directly or indirectly to 55 countries in the world and the wide product range meets specific customer requirements in those markets. In 2004, Reem Batteries launched a Maintenance Free range of Batteries in the GCC and the Middle East market, which has been well received. In 2007 the technologically superior Antara Hybrid range was launched in Oman, followed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

With over 90% of the total sales exported, Reem Batteries is one of the top export performers in the Sultanate.

Apart from their strong presence in the aftermarket, Reem Batteries is also dubbed as a 'Manufacturer's Manufacturer' - as they are the preferred supplier to other internationally reputed battery manufacturers in Europe.

The fact that the products are accepted in many markets with diverse requirements speaks of their superior quality. The stringent quality assurance system employed by the Company in one of the most sophisticated and integrated manufacturing facilities, adds to the unique and superior design features of the products in commanding a premium in the market. In recognition of its performance, Reem Batteries was one of the chosen five companies to be awarded His Majesty's Trophy for Best Industrial Company in 2001,2004, 2005 & 2008.

Reem Batteries has also been accredited with the ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:1999 certification, for conforming to the International Standards for Environmental Management, and the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Administration Services, respectively. Reem Batteries was also awarded His Majesty’s Cup for Environmental protection in 2006.

The comprehensive product range at high quality levels, meeting specific needs from any part of the world at competitive prices, is the major factor behind the success of the Company.

The UPS division is in the business of ‘Power Protection’ equipments, viz., ‘UPS Systems’ and accessories, SMF and other types (not manufactured in our facility) of batteries and other accessories related to these. We are one of the largest suppliers of UPS systems (GE make) to PDO and other organizations in Oman for more than a decade.

With our own ‘REEM’ brand UPS systems, introduced in 2007, this division is planning to address, apart from the home market the huge export market in line with our Automotive Battery division.

The technology of this REEM brand of UPS systems is from one of the largest manufacturers of UPS systems in the world, based at TAIWAN, equipped with products ranging from desktop 600VA to High end modular/rack-mountable 120KVA for mission critical applications.

The first batch of Our REEM UPS systems has already found their places in banks, Govt. and other sectors in OMAN along with exports to few neighboring countries during the last year.
