About us

Waleed Associates is a registered Limited Liability Company (LLC) formed in 1971. It is a part of the Omar Zawawi Group of Companies and has been instrumental in pioneering a number of projects in the Sultanate of Oman.

The group has been a Partner in Progress in the Sultanate of Oman. It has always promoted and supported its principals for a wide range of projects. The company has also been instrumental in developing projects and has invested in a number of companies in Oman.

The company strives to be innovative in developing projects through strategic alliances with international partners with emphasis on local value addition, development of Omani Human resources, and by abiding to its Quality and HSE policies.

Waleed Associates believes in providing quality products and services on time, meeting customer's requirements for orders of products as well as for services and solutions for electromechanical and electronic works and projects.

One of the key focus areas for Waleed Associates is to form suitable international alliances and JVs, where required, for Oilfield, Infrastructure, Industrial and Privatization projects. Also to form joint ventures with international partners to offer value added services in the Telecom Sector.

The company also focuses in supporting its Principals in a number of key areas notably in oil & gas, transmission, distribution & generation of energy, water and waste water treatment, defence, security & Marine Engineering Services.

Siemens in association with Waleed Associates has completed a number of projects notably:

• Turnkey project executed by Siemens-Skanska-Waleed consortium for the MOI's Oman TV Station in 1974;
• Supply and installation of a 4000 line Telex Exchange including supply of teleprinters to GTO in 1978;
• Supply & commissioning of all electrical equipment for Raysut Cement in 1981;
• Expansion of GTO network in the Capital area - a world bank financed project involving 11 digital EWSD Exchange with 44,000 lines including 800 KM microwave link from Nizwa to Salalah & Nizwa to Ibri, in 1983/84;
• Expansion of GTO network in Salalah including the first Fibre Optic Link, in 1984;
• 1000 lines international exchange in the Capital area for GTO in 1986;
• Digital telecom facilities in Mussandum for Mussandum Development Committee/GTO including digital exchanges, microwave transmission links in 1986;
• 140 KM Fiber Optic Link from Sohar to Khatmat Milah in 1986;
• Expansion of GTO network on the Batinah coast and in the Quriyat area including 6 digital exchanges and approximately 16,500 lines, Fiber Optic, microwave links, etc. in 1987;
• Transmission system for Ministry of Information TV-FM Coverage Project in 1991;
• Expansion of Telecom services in Mussandam in 1993;
• Expansion of Telecom services for Dakhelia Phase 2, in 1994;
• Upgrading of International Gateway Switch (ITSC), in 1996;
• First GSM infrastructure facility in the Sultanate of Oman in 1996;
• Expansion of Telecom Services at Wadi Kabir & Hamriya in 1998;
• 132 KV Madinat Sultan Qaboos to Jahlut transmission line for MEW in 2000;
• Intelligent Network for Prepaid PSTN and GSM network services in 2000;
• GSM infrastructure coverage for Wusta & Dhofar areas in 2001;
• GSM expansion in Dhofar in 2002;
• Expansion of telephone services in Wusta, Dakhliya & Dahira in 2002;
• Barik Electrical Upgrade & Yibal Power House for PDO in 2002;
• Intelligent Network Hayyak Expansion for Omantel in 2002;
• GSM Networks in Dakhiliyah, Dhahirah and Sharqiyah for Omantel in 2003;
• Upgrade of 30 EWSD Exchanges (Fixed Network) for Omantel in 2003;
• Solar operated Automatic Siemens Parking meters for Muscat Municipality in 2003;
• Omantel expansion of Intelligent Network in 2004;
• Waleed telecom division has supplied PABX equipment for the Royal Palace in Muscat, Royal Flight Muscat, Royal Hospital, Central Bank of Oman, Hyatt Regency Hotel, etc.;
• STP at Darsait for Muscat municipality;
• Supplied street lighting equipment for a number of street lighting Projects;
• Supplied, installed, commissioned & maintained traffic light systems in Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Sur.

They are one of the world's largest desalination plant manufacturers. They have supplied several desalination plants, notably:

• MSF Desalination Plant at Masirah in 1976
• RO Desalination Plant at Haima in 1980
• Sea water RO Plant at Kuria Muria Island
• RO Plant at Dhalkhut

• Additional 7 MGD MSF desalination plant at Ghubra Power & desalination plant in 1999.  

JAN DE NUL DREDGING(JDN) LTD

JDN / CCC / STFA  consortium executing the contract for Maritime Works for the construction of a new port at Duqm-2007. JDN is responsible for the dredging part.

CHINA NATIONAL BUILDING MATERIAL EQUIPMENT CORPN LTD. (CBMEC)

 GLENAYRE ELECTRONICS INC.

Glenayre Electronics executed the first Paging System for GTO in 1991. In 1993 they executed the contract for GTO's Voice Mail services.

Tubosider, Italy have supplied Guard Rails/Crash Barriers for major road projects in Oman, notable among them were:

• Luzuq-Sumail link Road in 1991;
• Ibra-Al Qabail & Bidiya Road in 1991;
• Rusayl-Nizwa Road Dualization Project, Phase I in 1994;
• Rusayl-Nizwa Road Dualization Project, Phase II in 1999

Supplied number of equipment/machinery and consumables to the Petroleum Development Oman on behalf of our various Principals.

Waleed Associates' Food Division, Wanzid, has representation of number of internationally reputed frozen food processing companies and has maintained regular clientele in the Oman market for past number of years.
