From a humble beginning in 1972, dealing in gas cookers, bed heads, Perspex sheets, typewriters, Sun Beam equipment, air-conditioners, etc. to one of the leading multi-faceted prestigious companies in Oman, with agencies of world renowned companies. This, in short, sums up the commendable growth route of Zawawi Trading Company (ZTC). With the acquisition of Daimler AG (erstwhile Mercedes-Benz), agency in end 1972, the Company has never looked back.

Today, after about 35 years, ZTC is a multi-divisional Company, running six full-fledged operating divisions:

• Automotive Sales: selling vehicles ranging from passenger cars to commercial vehicles
• Spare Parts & Tyres: dealing in vehicle spares and accessories
• Workshop: with state of the art facilities for after-sales service and maintenance
• Agriculture: dealing in tractors and implements
• Engineering (Communications, Mechanical, Marine & Automation): Executing EPC projects in these fields and trading related products.
• Electrical: Dealing in power generation and transmission line equipment.Raychem termination and joints etc.

AUTOMOTIVE SALES DIVISION

ZTC is the exclusive distributor for the entire range of Mercedes-Benz cars and commercial vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman for over 34 years. During this period it has established itself as the market leader in all segments of the Mercedes-Benz product range.

ZTC also offers a wide range of quality pre-owned Mercedes-Benz cars in a separate dedicated showroom. All cars undergo a thorough 100 point quality check before they are offered for sale.

The Automotive Division also has the franchise of the exclusive "Maybach" and "SLR" range of cars.

SPARE PARTS & TYRE DIVISION

The Spare Parts Division supplies a complete range of parts for Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and SLR passenger cars, commercial vehicles, industrial engines and buses.

Apart from spare parts, the division also supplies Uniroyal tyres, various accessories and specialised equipment.

WORKSHOP

The workshop has state-of-the-art facilities to match the product requirements. This includes a 24-hour vehicle recovery service, a courtesy car scheme, a mobile workshop for on-the-spot attention, service at the customer's place for major fleet owners, drop-off service to customers leaving their vehicles in the workshop, free technical inspection and repair estimates if the jobs are carried out at the workshop.

The performance of the workshop is measured in terms of the quality of the back-up service it provides to its customers and the influence it makes on their level of satisfaction. Most of the technicians, supervisors and customer-attending staff have received training from Mercedes-Benz; either in-house or at the factory in Germany and at times at the Regional Centre, U.A.E. On the job training is a continuous process in the workshop.

AGRICULTURAL DIVISION

The Agricultural division specialises in tractors and farm equipment. Massey Ferguson tractors were introduced in Oman 31 years ago and since then have been the market leaders with almost 80% share of the market. The division also represents Daedong Tractors in small/compact range to meet the requirements of small farmers. In addition to this, the division has also commissioned small/ medium size Turnkey projects such as Animal Feed Mill, Natural Fertiliser Plant, Milk Filling Line and Milking Parlour.

ENGINEERING DIVISION (Communications, Mechanical, Marine & Automation)

The Engineering Division has been actively involved in sales and marketing of Communications, Mechanical , Marine, Instrumentation, Controls and BMS products for more than two decades.

With a team of competent Sales and Service Engineers, supported by a well-stocked spare parts department and full fledged service department, the division provides total solutions to the customers including supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance. The Division undertakes re-powering contract of existing marine vessels. In association with its international principals, the division takes up turnkey contracts in the diversified fields of Engineering, including dredging, reclamation and marine construction.

The Division is mainly involved in project related sales of its multitude of products like PABXs, Payphones, Point of Sale Terminals, Military Communication Systems, Diesel Engines, Power Generators, Marine Propulsion Systems, Marine Vessels, Aircraft, Helicopters, Petrochemical Projects, Controls and Building Management Systems, etc.

The Engineering Division with its diversified product range caters to the needs of the majority of public and private sector organisations, including Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Transport & Communications, Royal Oman Police, Petroleum Development Oman, Oman Telecommunications Company, Diwan of Royal Court and various other Ministries and Contractors.

ELECTRICAL DIVISION (Electrical & Corrosion Protection)

The Electrical Division is based on a novel combination of high-tech industrial products and service agencies. It is focused on the sale and marketing of products and services viz. Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution. Products include Base Load Medium to Large Power Station, Transmission Line Hardware, Insulators, Sub-station Connectors, Surge Arrestors, Power / Distribution Transformers, MV / LV Switchgear, Cable Joint / Termination & Accessories, Solar Panels, Controllers etc.

Thermoplastic Heat Shrinkable Material, Heat Tracing, Thermal Insulation, Cathodic Protection of Pipeline and Tanks.

EPC Contracts for Water Desalination & Waste Water Treatment Plants.
